John is charged with the enviable task of preparing and submitting proposals, reports, and other correspondence to Breakthrough’s generous foundation, corporate, and government underwriters. (He is always on the lookout for new supporters and is open to suggestions that would lead in that direction.) John’s significant and successful development experience includes six years of winning grants and increasing overall support for Island Harvest, Long Island’s largest food bank. As a Peace Corps volunteer in the nation of Paraguay, John helped found a library and learned to play and sing some of that country’s beloved polkas and guaranias. His May 2012 marriage to the lovely Yvette Balboa made him an unlikely New Jersey resident, but he feels the availability of a backyard will make getting a dog that much easier.
