Second Level Trainers
Second level trainers are individuals selected from various HIV/AIDS and domestic violence trainings conducted by Breakthrough in the states of Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra & the Federal District of Dehli. They are supervised, trained and monitored to communicate Breakthrough developed curriculum and to assist the core trainers by sustaining education and networking efforts among local participants after a training has occurred. The following are key leaders in their respective communities:
Dr. Manjula Ullal
Dr. Ullal has a PhD in Kannada Literature and was a senior lecturer with Government College Mangeshwar, Kazarkode. As development professional, she is passionate about working in the field of HIV and primary education, and has undertaken various projects on monitoring and evaluation.
Premanand Kalmady
Mr. Kalmady is a civil engineer by education and an environmentalist by choice for the past 15 years. He has been doing leadership training for college students and has been promoting adventure sports and photography in Udipi District. He is the Director of West Coast Nature Adventurers.
Manjula Sunil:
Ms. Sunil has a Masters in Sociology and has over eight years of experience in working in the development sector. She was an IEC Coordinator for a KUDCEMP, a government project. At present, she is the Secretary of Karnataka State Trainers Collective in Mangalore.
Uday Jyotigudde
Mr. Jyotigudde has been training with Breakthrough for the past 2 years. He is trained as a classical singer and leads the Tarikita Kala Committee which promotes cultural activism using folk theatre like Yakshagana. He also organises and hosts a radio program in Kannada. He has experience doing monitoring and evaluation research in the field of education.
Kanmani
Kanmani has a Master in Sociology and has worked in the field of HIV for the past 15 years as both a consultant and full time staff. She has been working with CARDTS, a Karnataka based NGO, for the past 12 years as an administrator. Currently, she is managing the Rights Advocates training for Breakthrough with marginalised youth in four districts of Karnataka.
