Learn more about the impact of Breakthrough’s America 2049 – the first Facebook game to use this social networking platform to motivate players to explore and engage with human rights issues.

Submitted by the Education Development Center (EDC), this report examines the initial 12-week launch of America 2049 and explores the role of serious games in prompting engagement, dialogue and investment in social change.

A few findings:

86% of players indicated some willingness to become active in the future on an issue they encountered in the game

56% of respondents reported that they had reconsidered at least one issue to some extent following game play

47% of players surveyed indicated that the game’s overarching narrative and/or specific experiences of non-player characters in the game prompted them to reconsider the issues presented
