Breakthrough in collaboration with DFID and Novib launched a youth peer education program–the Rights Advocates– in three universities: Dehli, Jamia Millia Islamia and Lucknow University. The 30 peer educators that were selected were provided with critical information on HIV/AIDS and a holistic orientation to issues of sexuality, gender and sexual health utilizing a non-judgemental rights-based approach that encourages dialogue and responsible decision-making. The goal of the iniative was reduce the stigma and discrimination faced by people living with HIV/AIDS through broaden awareness through youth spokespeople, ages 18-24, in local communities.

The baseline research conducted in this study sought to test the differences in the levels of knowledge and attitudes of those exposed to the Rights Advocates approach. The Rights Advocates Endline Report outlines the extensive findings of this rigorous experiment.
